The journey begins with a swim through a flourishing seagrass bed, an essential marine habitat in itself, before reaching the reef drop that marks the start of the underwater spectacle. The reef’s hard and soft coral formations remain in excellent condition, protected by the atoll’s natural geography and nourished by strong ocean currents.

From July 13 to 20, Pullman Maldives Maamutaa invites guests to plunge into Aqua Week 2025, a celebration of underwater discovery, innovation, and environmental stewardship. This immersive week marks the official launch of Phase 1 of the Seagrass Mapping & Awareness Project, where guests can join guided snorkeling tours to collect visual data and learn about the ecological value of the resort’s flourishing seagrass meadows.

Aqua Week also brings together a series of exclusive collaborations: Insta360 will lead underwater content creation workshops, helping guests capture their marine encounters in vivid 360-degree detail. Edge K5 enhances the thrill with smart drive underwater scooters, offering a dynamic new way to explore the reef. Adding a touch of oceanic fantasy, certified mermaid Gloria Xue joins the lineup to conduct mermaid classes, host underwater photoshoots, and perform mesmerizing mermaid shows in the Aqua Villa.

A Commitment to Sustainability: The Seagrass Mapping & Awareness Project

This initiative highlights the ecological value of seagrass meadows, which support juvenile marine life and absorb carbon from the atmosphere.

Phase 1 (July): Seagrass identification and mapping with resort staff and guests.

Phase 2 (August-September): Guest-engaged snorkeling tours to collect visual data and promote awareness. This will take place during the resort’s Aqua Week.

Phase 3 (October): The premiere of a short documentary film showcasing the project’s findings.
